Ciro Hernández (Cello) BIO

The cellist from Tenerife Ciro Hernández has worked in a very versatile way within the world of music.

In 2017 he recorded with Alexis Alonso Quartet his first album “in”. Recently presented in 2018 at the Heineken Jazz Festival. In 2017 he presents his duo Socos his second album “Mantra”. He is a founding member of the show “Canto al Trabajo” by the company Pieles, in 2014, with which he began touring the islands of the archipelago until 2016. This same year he created the Maresía Trío, piano-violoncello-clarinet, with which he plays in different stages of the chamber music circuits of the island of Tenerife. Starting in 2010, he began the project “Tilellit duo” with Noemi Brito to rescue works by alive Canarian authors and classical repertoire for cello and piano. Presenting different musical projects being promoted by the Mafre Guanarteme Foundation. Both with the formation of contemporary music “Socos Duo” with which he produces two albums, the first was “These we are living”, as with the World Music group “Jeremias Martin Group”, with which he develops the album “Nuevos Aires “

Since finishing her studies in 2007 with a Gold Medal at the Marcel Du Pré conservatory with Elizabeth Beaussier and after having studied at the Frederic Chopin with Marie Elene Cappa (2002-2004), she combined her career in Tenerife and during this time of studies in Paris, collaborating assiduously with different orchestras, formations and chamber groups.

Since 2008, he has undertaken different musical and chamber music projects that will take him to Spain. Member of the Orchestra de la Musique Tradicional Francaise (OTF) has participated in the different programs that the orchestra presented until 2007. In 2005 he was invited by the Musical Corporation of the city of Medellín, Colombia, to collaborate a series of concerts in which plays as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the summer in multiple theaters. Since 2003 he has been linked to the Orchestra of Arc de Seine de la Ville de Meudon, with which in 2006 he will participate in the Armenian Music Festival of that city. During the same year he would work in the Voces Nuevas project, an ensemble that investigates and interprets the music of romantic composers and early 20th century South Americans.

At this time, the Rebec Quartet in Paris was born, with which Ciro, as one of the founding members, continued to have the opportunity to play at various events organized by the authorities of the French capital. His experience in Paris has been benefited by the opportunity to receive advice and master classes such as Michel Strauss or Xavier Gagnepain.

His studies in Tenerife are carried out in the Superior Conservatory of Santa Cruz, in the School of Music of this city, as well as in the School of Music of the Villa de la Orotava. In 2001 he joined the Orchestra of the Academy of the Tenerife Symphony where, among others, he received the courses of the soloist of the cello section Mark Peters and the assistant of soloist Naomi Barron. He also received classes with Juraj Janosik, Johanna Kegel and Miguel Jaubert. As soon as he began his musical studies, the Teobaldo Power Orchestra led by Tibor Kovacs, violist of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, with whom he would play all over the island in different events and also travel to Hungary and Slovakia in a concert tour in these countries With this orchestra in 1997 he would also travel to Cuenca to take an orchestra summer course. Between 1999 and 2002 he would perform Masters Class with the soloists Asier Polo, Iagoba Fanlo and Tatiana Kuncherenkov.

The last years he has worked as a teacher of the cello in different centers or academies of music education. From 2016 to the present, at the Guillermo González Music School in the City of La Laguna. Since 2015 at the Academy of Musical Association Cruz Santa in Los Realejos and from 2009 to 2014 at Academia Musical Orotava.
